Student Life
Social Emotional Learning:
Stillmeadow was the first Stamford Public School to adopt RULER—an evidence-based approach for integrating social and emotional learning into schools developed by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. RULER teaches the skills of emotional intelligence (recognizing, understanding, labeling, expressing, and regulating emotion) that are essential to effective teaching and learning, sound decision making, and good health.
Focus on Citizenship:
Stillmeadow utilizes a Bill of Responsibilities that clearly defines expectations for student conduct, including treating others with respect, fairness, compassion, and courtesy. Students who model the behaviors in the Bill of Responsibilities are recognized during monthly Citizenship Award assemblies.
Blended Learning and Differentiated Instruction:
Stillmeadow students benefit from a blended learning environment that utilizes teacher-led instruction and technology-based activities. Instruction is differentiated based on the student’s academic needs. Students experience a combination of one-on-one, small group, and independent learning daily.
